The book "Fangirl" has more of a nonchalant and casual tone through out the story. The author, Rainbow Rowell, chooses to speak through this type of tone to make the reader more engaged. It's as if the characters are talking to you. There are a number of passages in the book where it actually feels like if they are talking to you and how they are expressing their feelings to you. What ever the character is feeling, you get to kind of experience it too. The title "Fangirl" is given to this book because the main character Cath is a fangirl of Simon Snow. She writes fanfiction about Simon and is obsessed with the stories. Cath is a nerd when it comes to Simon Snow, but when she enters college and is told to write a story she decides to turn in a piece of her fanfiction and gets an "F". Her Professor sees a lot of potential in Cath, she is impressed by her ability to write so decides to give her an extension and wants them to meet so they can improve her writing ability. Cath blows it off because she has to much on her plate. Whether it's her dad. her sister, or her "love" life she starts to get a feel of what being an adult is all about and how juggling her priorities isn't as easy as she thought it would be.
